Bonjour! In a few weeks, the Quebec Floorball Association will host the fifth annual *Omnium de Montreal* (Montreal Open). We would like to invite you to participate in this event.

The tournament will be held on November 7-8, 2009, the Remembrance Day long weekend in Canada and Veteran's Day weekend in the U.S. The holiday weekend will allow most participants to travel home easier the following Monday.

The event will take place in Rosemere, Quebec (about 15-20 minutes north of Montreal) at two sites – Exernat Sacre Coeur directions and a second venue reserved if needed.

Accommodations will be again be at Hotel Le Rivage (1-888-437-2171) website at a fantastic rate of $99 per night for a quad occupancy, continental breakfast included! The reservations are under "Floorball Quebec or Joe Cadigal". Please note that the deadline to reserve your room is Monday, October 26 at midnight. The hotel is about 5-7 minutes by car from the tournament venues.

Guests at the hotel are entitled to a 30% discount at Le Spa Finlandais, located across the street! To top it all off, there are also several bars and restaurants nearby for those wanting a bit of the nightlife.

This year's competition has again two divisions planned, Elite and Intermediate. Also planned during the weekend is a Canadian Men's team tryout for the 2010 WFC, as well as the participation of the Canadian Women's team in the Intermediate Division, in preparation for the Women's WFC in Sweden in December. As we are still awaiting replies, the participating teams have not been finalized. The entry fee will be $550 per Intermediate team and $600 per Elite team. As always, team entries are limited and will be prioritized in a first come, first served basis so confirm your participation now!

The Vikings, proudly sponsored by Viking Escapades, Salming Floorball and FloorballPro.com, upset the Solid Soldiers Floorball Squad 6-4 in the final of the Toronto Floorball League Summer Division.

The match proved to be a tight battle between this year’s TFL Elite finalists, the Vikings and the Solid Soldiers, formerly known as TNEX. Solid was the favorite after their undefeated season in the Summer Division, including two wins against the Vikings. The affair brought together a fine crop of Canadian floorball talent, including Team Canada player Randy S’ad and up and coming Under-19 superstars Joel Inouye and Andrew Radjenovic from the Solid Soldiers and flamboyant U-19 scoring threat Colin Munro and Team Canada goaltender Sam Garrison from the Vikings.


The match itself was a colossal encounter between arguably the two best clubs in Ontario floorball. The first period was a tight defensive battle, with hardly any scoring chances. The Vikings took the lead just over six minutes into the game with a goal from Henry Korhonen assisted by Juha Mikkola.

The Solid Soldiers bounced back in the second period with goals by Andre Riolo and Eli Keleher and seemed to take the game into control. The Vikings were having trouble getting to the ball and the team resorted to taking penalties that allowed the Soldiers to dominate play.


The third period proved to be a legendary battle, with the Solid Soldiers scoring first to nearly put the game away for good. But Colin Munro, thanks to a flashy individual effort, brought the Vikings back into the game and sparked his teammates. The Vikings tied up the game, only to see the game slip away again with less than three minutes remaining when Andrew Radjenovic scored on a long-range shot.

Amazingly, the Vikings did not back down and tied up the game with a great shot from Andrew Kieran and just 20 seconds later, Eric Kloosterman scored the eventual game winner by deflecting in a hard pass in the slot. Colin Munro finished off the scoring with an empty net goal to seal the Summer Division Championship for the Vikings. Henry Korhonen was named the first star of the game.

With the come from behind victory the Vikings took the Toronto Floorball League double by winning both the Summer League Championship and the TFL Elite Championship in 2008, solidifying them as the bona fide champions of the Toronto floorball scene. In addition, the Vikings were triumphant at the Newmarket Open tournament earlier in the year and finished fourth at the Canada Cup, tying the best performance of any Ontario team.

In the night's other match-ups, Big Ben’s Bulldogs beat the Free Agents to win third while iMove/TPH edged GWB for fifth place.

Job Description:

As Purchasing Officer for FloorballPro, you are responsible for all procurement and supplier relationships. FloorballPro currently deals with large floorball manufacturers in Finland and Sweden – managing these relationships and identifying new ones will be of paramount importance to FloorballPro. You will need to rely on your floorball knowledge and experience to procure competitive products for FloorballPro, and to use your international business experience to optimize logistical operations for the company. In addition to managing the supply side for FloorballPro, you will also need to conduct floorball demonstrations, where you must use your floorball playing experience to show how the sport is beneficial to potential clients.

You must possess intricate knowledge concerning floorball in order to successfully manage FloorballPro’s supplier relationships. You will be required to travel to Finland and Sweden 1-2 times a year to negotiate supplier contracts and purchasing efforts for FloorballPro. In addition, you will need to explore how to diversify FloorballPro’s procurement, and to independently find new and profitable ways of catering to FloorballPro’s continued Canadian growth.

Main Duties:

• Provide input into product design in order to suit market trends, identify new ways in which products can be designed to better suit Canadian markets
• Establish and maintain contact with suppliers (see requirements)
• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities of the company – create systems, procedures, and policies for purchasing
• Evaluate cost and quality of floorball products and equipment
• Negotiate prices, discounts, credit terms, and transportation arrangements
• Purchase specialized floorball products and equipment for the company, and assess whether such products are suitable for the Canadian marketplace
• Negotiate purchasing terms and distributor contracts in Finland and Sweden
• Explore new avenues for procurement, such as suppliers in Czech Republic, Switzerland, and Germany
• Conduct floorball demos and presentations to potential clients, outlining the benefits of the sport, and demonstrating how it is played
• Train people interested in becoming floorball ambassadors across Canada, on a need basis

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree required in International Business Administration or related business field
• Intricate knowledge of the business side of floorball, including global trends, product knowledge, competitors, and future outlook
• Playing experience required for floorball demonstrations
• Finnish and/or Swedish language required
• Travel to Finland and Sweden 1-2 times a year to negotiate with suppliers
• Sales experience (0-2 years)
• Willingness to work long days/weekends/holidays
